Top margin between name and beginning of letter: excessive space.

This is writing that shows a person has intense respect for the person addressed.  In fact, the more space between the "Dear" and beginning of the letter, the greater the respect the writer has.

This trait is often different depending on whom the person is writing.  For instance, to write to an old high school teacher, they may have lots of respect, but for their son's baseball coach, they may not have much respect, and, in such a case, the writing would have a very small gap between the greeting and beginning of the letter.
